OMG…If you live in So Cal like me, the past few days have been HOTTTT!! The summer feels like it’s just getting started out here…
Extreme heat gives me the very un-fantastic melting makeup feeling and even worse, tiny heat rashes on my forehead, cheeks, etc. That’s my signal that it’s time for a timeout for me and my foundation. I need a lil breather. (stupid sun…lol). Don’t you worry though, I call on my backup boytoy…tinted moisturizer. We’ve talked tinted moisturizers before, but they are definitely worth another plug. Tinted moisturizer pluses? A little coverage when your without foundation (woohoo) and many come with SPF (even bigger woohoo).
Time for a quick play-by-play of my scorching summers days regimen…Ready…Set…Go…
MOISTURIZE AND PROTECT
Assuming your SPF and tinted moisturizer are separate, start with SPF. Give a lil rub-a-dub-dub, then a few moments to settle. Then, apply your tinted moisturizer. For those just using a moisturizer with SPF, you can always use a bit of light concealer in areas where needed.

MAKE IT POP
Now, break out the cream blush. Dab, dab, dab on the apples of the cheek, blend toward the tips of ears/hairline). Rosy cheeks…good…clowny cheeks…bad. For eye shadow, keep it light and natural. Love MAC paint pots and cream shadows by Bobbi Brown, Benefit and Smashbox. If eyeliner is a must, go waterproof. Try a smokey charcoal or perhaps a chocolatey brown. Finally, you need BRONZER in your life!!! Some of my faves are by MAC, Bobbi Brown…oh…and in case you didn’t know, the Queen Latifah Cover Girl Bronzer Collection is fabulous dahlings!

CHERRY ON TOP
You’re almost done! Whip out a lip stain, lip balm, or pop on your fave lipgloss.
Fresh, glowy, and protected! Voila! (I would lying if I said I don’t sometimes add water proof/resistant mascara to the mix…but do you!!)

BUDGET FRIENDLY TRICK OF THE TRADE FOR YOU: Mix a wee bit of your foundation…emphasis on the “wee bit”…with your moisturizer to give you a tinted moisturizer effect.
