It’s the morning of day 3 with no makeup…(although I did put on blush to go get gas and hit the ATM…but SHHHH…don’t tell Emily, my Esthetician!)
Summer is coming and it’s time for us to prep our skin, skin, skin! I went to see Emily to get summer ready. My skin feels fab, I’m glowing and my extractions didn’t hurt. So, kick back jack! Take a little break from makeup for a couple of days (going makeup free never hurt nobody)…get your facial, get waxed, get threaded (my fave) and drink your H2O baby!!!!
For those of you who can’t possibly imagine going makeup naked, a couple quick tricks….stay indoors….hee hee, just kidding.
- Get your facial, threading and waxing done 3 days before a big event
- Stay away from foundation during your breather, but if you must, try a tinted moisturizer….it’s like a lil bit of food coloring to get to an even hue. I tend to partake in Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown.
- I’d be lying if I said that me and my blush ever take a timeout, trial separation, whatever, but try. It’s a breather for your skin.
My skincare priestess, Emily Fine, has magic fingers. If you’re in So Cal, find her at Skincare by Emily in South Pasadena. She works it, loves it and makes it happen!

Hi there. Love your blog!! I have a question about tinted moisturizers…Do they work on darker skin? I have always thought that tinted moisturizers were for targeted for fair skin tones. I think I would be willing to go makeup free (or makeup free light) more often if there was something out there that could even out my skin tone like foundation does. Any recommendations for darker skin tones?
Hi! Thanks for your comment! Tinted moisturizers come in all shades and I’m a big, big believer in them for the summer time. A little concealer (if needed) and a little tinted moisturizer and you’ll be fab!! Of course…don’t forget the blush
For my clients with darker skin tones, my faves are both Bobbi Brown and Mary Kay.
